Studio Policies

DRESS CODE: Please refer to the dress code on this website for dance attire and shoes. All students of TSD must adhere to dress code.

BEHAVIOR: Students are expected to show respect toward their teachers and fellow classmates. Disruptive and/or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. We will create a safe and enjoyable environment for all students, staff, parents and guests.

SCHOOL CALENDAR: The school year begins in September and runs through June. Refer to the calendar for important dates, closures and events.

REGISTRATION: Students may register for classes as space permits. New students are accepted until February 1st.

STUDENT PLACEMENT: Students age 2.5 through 4th Grade are placed first by age. This allows us to present lessons that are developmentally appropriate. Dancers ages 10 and older are evaluated and placed into technique classes based on their skill level. Progression to a higher level is based on technical ability, skill mastery, attendance and maturity. Some classes will contain a mix of ages. Students are progressed to the next level with teacher recommendation.

STUDENT PROGRESS: Regular attendance and at-home practice greatly affect the rate at which your child will learn and improve. Your childs teachers and the director are happy to discuss their progress and answer your questions. Please be respectful of other student's time and do not interrupt or delay a class that is in session. Send an email to set up a time to talk.

ATTENDANCE: Attendance is taken at every class. Good attendance is crucial to the progress of the entire class. Make-up lessons are offered, check with the front desk to find a suitable make-up class.

PRIVATE LESSONS: Private lessons are available to any student (grade 5 and older) who would like more challenging work or the opportunity to refine technique in a particular discipline. Private lessons also provide reinforcement of class material for any student who would like extra help. Please check with the office to request more information.

IMPORTANT NOTICES: Important notices and updated information will be distributed via email. Please update your account to reflect your current email. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to obtain and read this information.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: TSD does not follow any specific school district for snow cancellations. If the weather is questionable check your email or check the homepage on this website. Classes canceled due to weather or poor road conditions will not be made up as a group, however you can take a make-up class at your convenience. As always, use your best judgement.

  • Yes!  We are proud to offer a full recital at the end of every dance year.  Our recitals generally span over 2 days with multiple shows.  We offer a recital booklet so that your dancer can be featured as well as flower purchases, dance medals, and awards for perfect attendance.  To see more information about our recitals please see our recitals page.

Is there an economical way to keep my dancer in shoes?

  • We understand that dance shoes, with how quickly our children grow, can be a big expense!  At TSD we offer a used dance shoe program for our students. Current TSD dancers have the option to consign their shoes they no longer need or donate them to the studio.  We offer these shoes to TSD students only in an effort to recycle shoes and keep costs low.
